
Dishwashers must meet Canada's Energy Efficiency Regulations before they can qualify for ENERGY STAR in Canada.
Standard Dishwasher – categorized as a dishwasher with a capacity equal to or greater than eight place settings plus six serving pieces.
Compact Dishwasher – categorized as a dishwasher that has a capacity less than eight place settings and six serving pieces.

Standard dishwashers must improve upon the minimum Government of Canada energy standard of at least 9 percent to qualify for the ENERGY STAR symbol. Compact dishwasher must be at least 10 percent more efficient
Standard and compact dishwashers are required to meet the maximum total annual energy consumption (TAEC)as well as a maximum water factor (WF).
